John E. MacKenty graduated from Harvard College in 1950 and from the Harvard Law School in 1954. He subsequently earned a Master of Laws at New York University. After service in the United States Army, he was affiliated with several New York City law firms from 1956 until 1986.
Since October 1986, Mr. MacKenty has been Counsel to the firm. His practice involves estate planning and administration and the related tax issues. He is admitted to practice in New York, Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia.
Mr. MacKenty is a past Chairman of the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and has served on a number of committees of that Association and of the American Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He has lectured on estate planning and administration, and has been a contributing author to legal publications on these topics. He has served as an officer, director or trustee of educational and preservation organizations and as President of the Edgemont Board of Education, Scarsdale, New York. Mr. MacKenty is also of Counsel to Worth & Norton in Edgardtown, Massachusetts.
