Lawrence Sperry Mannix, In Memoriam

Lawrence S. Mannix.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our colleague Lawrence Sperry Mannix on September 13, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Deidre Donahoe, and their three children: Madeleine, Ella, and Lawrence Jr.

Lawrence graduated from the College of the Holy Cross and the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, and he received his LLM degree in taxation from the Boston University School of Law. In a career that spanned more than three decades, he specialized in estate planning, taxation, business law, and real estate. In addition to his legal practice, Lawrence served on the Board of Directors of Ogden House in Wilton, and he was a former President of the Wilton Kiwanis Club and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce.

Lawrence’s life centered on the people he loved and the joy he found in sharing time with them. With his ever present smile and positive attitude, he was always ready to make someone laugh. Being around Lawrence was easy, as you felt welcomed and cared for. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maria Mitchell Association on Nantucket, in honor of Lawrence’s lifelong love of the island, the ocean, and the natural world.

Gloria Neuwirth

The firm notes with sadness the passing on June 25, 2026 of our dear and longstanding colleague, Gloria S. Neuwirth, who became a partner in 1995 and retired to her position as Senior Counsel in 2025. Gloria was a prominent pioneer in the field of trusts and estates, yet ever modest and unassuming. Her personal touch with clients and her dedication to them will especially be missed, but her strong example will continue to inspire us.
